Clouds are one of the major factors that determine whether you can observe. There are a number of websites that provide up-to-date satellite imagery showing the extent of cloud cover on a regional basis. Links to a few of these websites are provided below. Visible satellite imagery is useful during the daytime to track approaching weather systems. At night, infrared satellite imagery shows the presence or absence of cloud cover.
