South Plains Astronomy Club

Observing Under The Dark West Texas Skies

This Thursday at 7 PM, join us at St John's UMC for a discussion on telescopes. Bob Kieras will share design insights from the club's 20" telescope project, followed by Tom Heisey discussing optics using an educational kit. Everyone is welcome, and no membership is required.

This Thursday, we’ll talk about telescopes and making your own. Bob Kieras will talk about design considerations for building your telescope. Bob is heading up the club’s build of a 20″ telescope and has lots of experience:

Bob Kieras and Rob Chapman working on the 20″ Telescope.

After that, Tom Heisey will use an educational optics kit to talk about optics and optics issues in various types of telescopes and eyepieces.

You are welcome to come to the meeting at 7pm in St John’s UMC (15th & University, across from TTU campus). The center door near the small brick patio area will be open. Membership is not required, and visitors are welcome. We hope you’ll like us enough to return. I hope to see you there!
